The window was designed for this weather. So was the company that makes it.
Straitview Windows & Doors installs Thermoproof windows and doors exclusively, from Duncan to Qualicum Beach. Here's why we bet the business on one brand.
Forty-nine years on the Island
Thermoproof has designed and built windows and doors in the Cowichan Valley since 1977. That makes it the Island's longest-running locally owned and operated window manufacturer. Its factory is in Cobble Hill, inside our service area, so a window for a house in Parksville travels about an hour from the line to the wall.
Why "made here" is more than a slogan
- Built for sideways rain. The people who design these windows drive home through the same weather you do. The seals, drainage and frames are specified for salt air and six wet months, not for a prairie winter or a desert summer.
- A short supply chain. No container, no border, no "it's somewhere in transit." Lead times are measured in weeks, and if a unit arrives damaged, the replacement comes from down the road.
- A high share of Canadian content. More of your money stays in Canada than with an imported window.
- Someone to call. If a product ever needs service, the manufacturer is a local phone number, not an overseas ticket queue.
The product lines we install

- Frames: uPVC, uPVC-aluminum hybrid and thermally broken aluminum

- Doors: patio, sliding and folding door systems
One brand, one crew, no guessing
Most installers sell whatever is cheapest that month, and their crews learn a new product on your house. We chose one manufacturer and learned it inside out. That means our measures are exact, our installs are routine, and the price on your quote is the price on your invoice.
We install Thermoproof in Duncan, Ladysmith & Chemainus, Nanaimo and Parksville & Qualicum Beach. See also our BC window rebates guide.
FAQ
Common questions
Where are Thermoproof windows made?
In Cobble Hill, in the Cowichan Valley, where Thermoproof has manufactured windows and doors for Vancouver Island homes since 1977.
Why do you only install Thermoproof?
Because an installer who knows one product inside out makes fewer mistakes than one who installs six. Every Thermoproof window is built for this coast's weather, the factory is a short drive away for service, and we can measure and install it in our sleep. We'd rather be excellent at one brand than average at several.
Which Thermoproof windows do you install?
The Pacific Collection: Tofino 8000, Summit 7000 and Pacific 6000 series, plus Thermoproof's patio and folding door systems. We'll recommend a series for your home, your budget and your rebate goals, and we bring samples to the measure.
Do Thermoproof windows qualify for BC rebates?
Many do. We confirm the energy rating of every product on your quote and tell you which ones qualify before you order.
What warranty comes with Thermoproof windows?
The windows carry Thermoproof's manufacturer warranty on the product, and our 5-year installation warranty covers the work. We go over both with you at the measure, and both are handed to you before we leave.
